Where Were You for Your Decade Years?

Don’t worry, you’re not missing much.

For me,

10 - Iowa
20 - Chicago
30 - North Carolina
40 - Washington DC

50 will almost certainly be Washington DC or close, 60 could be New York City, or outside the U.S.

10 - Haifa, Israel
20 - outskirts of Jericho, I think. I was in the army, and moving around a lot.
30 - Tel Aviv
40 - Tel Aviv

either kokomo Indiana or the antelope valley ca except seaside ca where rents lived when dad was in the army and san beradino for a few months decades ago

I have lived in 7 states and three different countries. Defining “move” as crossing state or national boundaries, my wife and I have moved a total of 12 times since we married. As a contract employee, I revisited many towns even 2 or 3 times.

I explained all that because limiting the list to decade cities shows a really odd coincidence. I’ve never realized this until this thread.

10 Little Rock, Arkansas
20 Little Rock, Arkansas
30 Fort Worth, Texas
40 Fort Worth, Texas
50 Fort Worth, Texas
60 Fort Worth, Texas

It’s hilarious that with all my wandering, I was in only two towns when my birthday-age ended with a zero.

10 - small town Iowa
20 - big town Iowa
30 - Minneapolis

It’s pretty obvious that I’m just going bigger and bigger, but I’ve already lived in LA and Chicago. Guess it’s NYC for 40!

0 Des Moines IA
10 Wheeling WV
20 Morgantown WV
30 Baltimore MD (Chase)
40 Hanover PA (near Gettysburg)
50 Hanover PA

Are we talking the entire year, or just the birthday for that decade year?

10 - St Louis (county) MO
20 thru 50 - Lawrence KS

Although on my actual 40th birthday, I was in Oakland/S.F. on a business trip.

I turned 10 years old in Los Angeles. I was born and raised in West Germany.
Turned 20 and 30 years old here in Chicago.

It’s Fairfax County, Virginia across the board for me. I did live in Maryland once for a short stretch, but not during a significant birthday…

10 Northern Virginia
20 Northern Virginia
30 Moscow, Russia
40 Aceh, Indonesia
50 Ranmallah, Palestine

10 - Elgin, IL
20 - Valparaiso, IN
30 - Urbana, IL

North Shore where? We were a hair away from moving to Stony Brook after Coram.

10: O’Fallon, IL
20: Fort Riley, KS
30: Floating on the Gasconade river somewhere near Belle, MO.

This doesn’t begin to scratch the surface.
16 different locations (not including college) and 28 moves that I know of. The longest I have ever lived in one geographic area is 6 years.

10: My family moved from suburban Chicago to Green Bay on my 10th birthday.
20: At college in Madison, WI.
30, 40, 50: Back in suburban Chicago.

If we’re talking birthdays, then

20 - Austin, TX
30 - Dallas, TX
40 - Frisco, TX

All four of my decade birthdays have been here in Boise, Idaho (half in my childhood home, half in my current apartment). My 0’th was in California though.
