Where would I, an American, get a 1 Euro coin?

I’m probably missing a joke or something, but I miss the tolar. The 10 stotinov had an olm on it, which I think is badass. I have one or two of those around.

The Maltese euro is simple but cool. On the bigger French coins, Marianne looks like she will castrate you if you look at her wrong. Pretty much all of the monarch coins look boring.

Just go to the nearest church and ask if they have one they could spare in exchange for a small donation. We get them in the collection basket quite often, and it’s really not worth the hassle to bring them to the currency exchange.

You could seriously acquire some crazy cred by flying to France, making a purchase, then flying home, just to get some euros. Document each step on Facebook; maybe get a commercial sponsor.

I’m sure I have a couple laying around, plus the other coins too if you want to PM me. I’m not sure what countries I have off the top of my head, probably either Ireland or Latvia would be my guess though.

Thanks for the offers guys. I mentioned this to a friend of mine and she said she might be able to help me. I don’t really want to go through a lot to get one and I appreciate those willing to send it, but its more of just a curiosity for me to have one.

I’m pretty sure I have one kicking around from my trip about 10 years ago, too. The one bank around here that will change them is a PITA to get to from my office, so I still have about 12 pounds left.

You could also approach folks coming out of customs at your nearest international airport. Of course, you want to look at what planes have just landed, or surreptitiously peek at the airline code on their baggage tags. Flight attendants are a good bet as they won’t be weirded out by a stranger talking to them.
