I saw her in a news report of her slogging through the snow in New Hampshire with her walker the other day. And Jeb pointed out that his 90-year-old mother was out on the campaign trail while Trump stayed in New York because it was snowing in NH.
I’ve seen photos of Heidi Cruz off and on. And I saw part of a tv interview with Chris Christie and Mary Pat once, but that may have been before this campaign.
Considering the flak that was tossed at Teresa Heinz Kerry by Republicans twelve years ago, Bush and Rubio may be downplaying the whole “foreign wife” thing?
Cruz’s wife has been doing plenty of campaigning. Rubio’s is standing up on stage when she needs to be. What do you think these women should be doing? It’s not like it’s standard practice for wives to be out there doing speeches.
Eta: and I didn’t know Rubio’s wife was a Miami Dolphins cheerleader. I don’t like you but major props, bro.
Bush’s wife kept a relatively low profile when he was Governor as well. I think she just doesn’t like being in the public eye.
Rubio’s wife was born in the United States (to immigrant parents). She isn’t any more foreign then Marco himself is.
In anycase, I think its pretty normal to politicians wives to be limited to smiling in campaign videos and making small talk at fundraisers during primary season.
I’ve heard that Jeanette Rubio doesn’t like campaigning or public speeches either. Heidi Cruz is probably the most actively involved wife.
I wouldn’t expect to hear much from a candidate’s spouse until the convention.
Heck, one of the candidates is an immigrant! We’ve got us a real melting pot here folks.
Diversity; it’s the Republican way!
