Where's davidm? In the hospital recovering from a medical screwup.

My brother showed up and loaded all of my belongings in his car. Then I was told that they couldn’t arrange home TPN until tomorrow, so I have to stay one more night.

The gods must be laughing at me.

GAHHH /shakes fist at the gods/

At least you’re LEAVING! Yee-haa!

Keep up posted.

Maybe I’m leaving. Now it appears that there’s some question about whether or not Blue Cross will cover home TPN.

ARGH!!!

And what is there alternative suggestion? I mean, beyond “just die already, it’d be cheaper” which I expect someone there has thought…

I don’t know. Supposedly the social worker will be coming to talk with me.

Apparently it’s not quite what I thought. The insurance just wants all of my records. (They don’t have them already???)

That takes time so I’m going to be here another night. I almost wonder if they’re stalling to make my out of pocket period as long as possible.

Or maybe they’re hoping I’ll die soon. I’m reducing their profits as long as I’m alive.

I think you should call your lawyer and tell him you want to sue everyone who has had any contact whatsoever with you since the very beginning of this mess. Well, except your brother, and the SDMB. Gad.

I’m home!

YAY !!! Congrats !!

Woot!

Woo-hoo! You made it out! That’s wonderful! I was starting to think we were going to have to organize a rescue party. Ocean’s Eleven but much Dopier.

I’m so glad you’re home. What craziness.

how’s it going so far?

I was concerned about being tied to an IV pole 18 hours a day. It turns out I won’t need a pole. I can tote the bag of TPN around, with a battery powered pump, in a special backpack.

Unfortunately a full bag of TPN is like carrying around a load of bricks. It would destroy my back.

Fortunately I figured out how to hang it on my walker. Problem solved.

I’ve seen those backpacks. They really free up people who are on them long-term and are ambulatory to lead more active lives.

Just glad you’re home!

You were so open to provide an address for the first rehab, so the teeming millions could send you gooofy cards in the mail, etc.

How about now? I can’t be the only one who’d like to send a card! (PM if you’re up for it. If not, I totally understand !)

Congrats on getting home regardless!

Glad you’re doing better and solving problems.

Yay on home!! I’ve always said, a hospital is no place for a sick person!

I experimented tonight with scrambling some eggs for dinner, even though I’m supposed to be on clear and full liquids only. They tasted great and didn’t seem to cause any problems.
