Where's my kitten?

Thanks for defending me want2befree, but fact is I removed them from the place their mother had chosen specifically to keep them safe. Probably is Pit-worthy, especially if something bad had happened.

Oh that’s wonderful!!! I hope the poor kitty stays put now!:stuck_out_tongue:

When I was a kid we lost a young cat inside the house. We could hear it crying but couldn’t locate it. My sisters and I went to bed absolutely miserable, and sometime that night my dad woke us up to say the cat was found. There was a crawl space above the downstairs bathroom and the cat had got up there and then fallen into a space between the bathroom wall and the downstairs bedroom. Dad cut a hole in the ceiling of the shower, and then one in the closet of the downstairs bedroom, and the latter space is where he found the cat.

This thread is clearly a clever bit of somewhat odd trolling; if it weren’t there would be pictures.

I mean, srsly… no pics? WTF??? :dubious:

Here you go Snowboarder, while you wait.

I would be insulted by the insinuation of trolling if I wasn’t pretty sure you were kidding (you are kidding, right?).
Anyway, I’m not sure how to post pics, if anyone can give me instructions I’d be glad to share.

Did you find it alive? Sure hope so.

And I’m glad the OP’s kitten is OK. I’m a huge cat lover.

Thanks for the update, turtlescanfly.
We live in a small one-floor house and our twenty-pound Maine Coon can STILL hide himself sometimes. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve asked each other how we can lose a cat that big in a house that small. He always comes sauntering out later (making absolutely sure we didn’t see where he came from, the little bastard) and seems extra-smug at his successful hiding.

Oh yes, it was alive. It had only been “lost” for about eighteen hours. Dad woke us up to tell us about finding it, because it was GOOD news!:stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, he’s kidding. It’s a “rule” of MPSIMS that anyone posting a cat thread must post pictures of the cat in question…and any other cats they may have, or have had, or seen once, or found online and considered cute…

You’ll need an account at a picture hosting site–lots of people seem to use http://www.flickr.com/. You upload your kitty pictures there, then post links to those pictures here.

We “lost” our almost 14 year old cat a couple of months ago - I had opened a hall closet to get something out, and closed it without doing a thorough cat-check. For the next couple of hours, we kept hearing a strange thump in the house (but no meowing). I finally went and checked the closet that I’d had open for about five seconds, and sure enough, there she was.

This is the same cat that manages to get closed up in the garage on a semi-regular basis - she’s the master of the sneak entrance.

Glad your story had a happy ending, Turtles! Having mama cat around, I was pretty sure that she would have known where her baby was, but I’m glad they’re all accounted for again.

I had a young cat jump up on top of the fridge, jump up to where I was doing some remodeling to the kitchen ceiling and fall down inside the wall. He was missing for quite a while before I figured out where he went. He never made a peep. It took a flashlight and an inspection mirror to even verify that was where he was. I had to knock a hole in the drywall to retreive him. He was pissed that I disturbed him.

Thank goodness kitten was found, turtlescanfly! We were just about to call the NSA and who knows WHAT secrets of yours would have come out!

Seriously, we absolutely have to have pictures of the mama and the other kittens and the Kitten in Question. I use photobucket.com (it’s free, too). Once you upload your picture(s) to the site, it will give you links to post here.

About those pictures… I’m sure the NSA can supply some if you don’t want to bother uploading. Hehe.
I have temporarily lost soooo many cats inside the house. Looking everywhere, convinced they got out, or got stuck in some deeply hidden deadly place, and then eventually they just come walking Out of the Somewhere Into the Here, cool as a cucumber. I think they go into another dimension.

I lost my cat once for three days. I called outside, I looked everywhere. I stopped my Geo Metro in the middle of the street, left it running and went after a cat in the twilight that looked like Meg. When I caught the cat and found it wasn’t tortishell after all, I went back to my car. I’d left my 2 dobermans and my german shepherd in the car and they’d locked the door behind. There I was, having to call the state troopers to unlock my dog-filled, running car. And no kitty.

Then I went into my guest room to get a book. There was Meg, as happy as could be. She’d never made a sound. It was lucky I happened to want this particular book, because I usually left that room shut away from the animals. She didn’t seem any worse for having spent three days without food or water.

Well, I’m only half kidding. As Balance pointed out, the rule here on the Straight Dope is: if yer gonna post about cats, and especially about kittens, you MUST included pictures, or be forever ostracized until you think that maybe Hal’s mistake was, in fact, minor in comparison to your own.

I am glad you found your wee one, btw.

I once had a cat named Bubeleh, who was the mother of the best cat I’ve ever known, my beloved Mao. Bubeleh once got into a clothes drawer as I was getting ready for work, but I didn’t see her do it. So when I got home from work like 12 hours later, I went to count heads and couldn’t find her. I finally heard a faint mewing from somewhere, which turned out to be my sock drawer. The poor girl had spent the whole freaking day trapped in there. I felt so bad I gave her a little bowl of tuna garnished with treats and then kept all the other cats away from her so she could actually enjoy it. <sigh> She was a terrific little cat and I miss her almost as much as I miss Mao.

You’re lucky she didn’t jump into the sock drawer the next day.

I’ll work on getting pictures posted, right now I have to get some work done as I’ve spent way to much time goofing off on the interwebz tonight.

i have chalkboard dot decals on the front door, one of them has “count noses” on it. a reminder that i should count the cat noses before exiting the flat.

poor koritza has a way of sneaking into the closet.

I’ve had luck posting photos using Picasa.

Let me get this straight - we have flying turtles, now? And they lose (and find!) kittens?

I assume turtles don’t fly very fast.

edit: grats on the wee one being recovered intact!

Back when I was fostering kittens for the Humane Society I discovered so many holes and gaps in my house that I never knew existed before and I didn’t enjoy it.

The coal black kittens were the worst. Your brain just doesn’t seem to register their presence even when looking right at them. I used to take the kitties over to my Mother’s apartment because she couldn’t get out anymore and enjoyed playing with the little rascals. I lost track of a black fuzzball one night and tore her place apart looking for it for at least a couple of hours. I collapsed, exhausted, into a chair wondering what the hell to do next and then I saw the glint of laughing kitten eyes behind a stack of CDs in a cabinet across the room. They enjoy watching us silly humans I’m sure.
