Where's your TP?

Since March, it’s been in a Bank Vault.

In a solid tube tp storage thing. I had a cat that loved paper. The tp needed to be hidden from him yet near to hand.

After his passing I still keep the tp in the holder, but now have the roll in use on the lid of the holder.

I went to a friend’s house. She had toilet paper stacked on a toilet plunger, sitting by the toilet.
That right there is non-decorating. She’s so over it.

The main bathroom in my house was similar to the OP. Not only was there no TP holder nor any screw holes where one had been, there wasn’t even a good place to mount one on the wall. On one side of the toilet is the bathtub, and on the other is a pedestal style sink, so nothing to mount it to on either side. Putting it directly across from the toilet would have been a) a bit too far to reach, and b) directly below the towel rack, so the towel would cover the TP. I guess putting it on the wall behind the toilet could have worked, but I find that kind of awkward reaching back like that. So I bought a freestanding TP holder similar to this one, and put it between the toilet and sink.

The master bathroom is narrower, since it only has a shower stall and not a full bathtub. That bathroom has one on the wall across from the toilet. It’s the kind that’s recessed into the wall.

Toilet paper? It’s bidet attachment all the way. Yes, this was a thread shit.

We’ve got those spring-loaded holders right next to all three toilets. Two are mounted on the wall; the guest bathroom’s is on the vanity cabinet. A couple extra rolls in there are stored on the giraffe on the other side of the toilet.

The other two bathrooms have shelves over the toilet tanks where an extra roll or two reside. Any overflow is stored in the hall closet next to the guest bathroom.

I decided not to have a wall-mounted holder after the old one got knocked loose due to overenthusiastic kids. So there’s a single roll of TP on a floor stand, and several rolls in the sink cabinet next to the toilet. The main stash is in the basement.

What I would like is to mount this fellow, but without it being able to get knocked loose. Best would be to mount it to a floor stand somehow. Click on link to see what he does.

These are the best drywall anchors I’ve used in the last 15 years or so. They’ll do about as much damage to the drywall as a toggle bolt and they’re actually removable without making things worse (unlike a molly bolt*). They really do hold a lot of weight. I encourage every homeowner to have a pack of them on hand. Don’t get little tiny ones either, get one of bigger ones. You can always use one that’s bigger than you need, but if you use one that’s too small because it’s what you have, it’s going to leave a big hole if it gets torn out of the wall.

*Yes, I know you can get molly bolts out, but I learned to just bash them in a little with a hammer and put some spackle over them. The landlord won’t notice until after you get your security deposit back.

Current roll on a traditional wall mounted dispenser. Back up roll on the toilet tank. Give Sam’s Club package or two in the sauna. See, my bathroom has a small sauna that we never use, other than for storage.

Active roll on a wall mount by the toilet. I usually keep 1-3 rolls on the bathroom shelving. There’s an unopened 6 pack in the linen closet. The “armageddon stash” is in unopened packs, double-bagged (moisture control) and in the basement storage unit.

I have one of these downstairs, the bar can hold 3 rolls at once:

And one of these upstairs:

I actually like that bathroom table/TP holder/magazine caddy. Unfortunately, my current bathroom is too small for it.

When I redid my downstairs bathroom I used a pedestal sink. The toilet was between the sink and the tub. I just got one of those right angle stand alone TP holders since I didn’t have a wall to attach a TP holder on.
I would like to say that after helping my mother out as she got infirm. one of those stand alone ones makes it much easier for someone with limited motion, since they can place it for their convenience. It’s convenient because it doesn’t require any twisting to the side (Or behind and to the side like one nightmare apartment) , or forwards where an infirm person may fall.

We have the standard wall-mounted versions in all the bathrooms. The one in the powder room is the sort that required them to cut a hole in the dry wall, as it’s recessed; the others are mounted on the side of a cabinet.

The house had no place to store extra TP in the powder room. We bought a freestanding vertical holder to hold spare rolls. In the master bath, we just set the package on the floor between the toilet and the cabinet.

I’ve twice stayed in hotels where the TP holder was down near the floor, UNDER THE SINK. Nearly impossible to reach. Argh.

The sort of holder that involves a vertical pole, with a horizontal jig to hold the roll - usually with a little bend at the end to hold the roll… those suck. 99 times out of 100, I’ll try to pull a length of paper, and wind up knocking the roll onto the floor.

Horizontal mount that’s real easy to knock off and way too close to the shower. Backups usually stored on top of the dryer (stacked W/D) I’ll usually grab a backup to be put on the shelves that stack on the toilet.

Each bathroom has a wall mounted holder like this that’s a lot easier to deal with than the spring held kind that are a lot more common and a canister like this to hold another 3 rolls.

I agree with those who say not having the roll in use mounted on something for easy unrolling is less convenient. But we don’t have pets, I can imagine having it regularly unrolled all round the house is even worse.

Your punishment is to clean up with dry TP.
