Under normal, non-panic-driven circumstances, how much toilet paper do you keep on hand?
I have 5 unopened 12-packs, plus maybe another dozen rolls divided among the bathrooms for easy access. Last time I bought any was maybe 3 weeks ago when there was a good sale - after all, as long as it’s kept dry, it won’t go bad. If I get down to 2 12-packs, I start hoping for another sale.
I have a case of TP stashed. 144 rolls. I’m kind of a hoarder, anyway.
Can’t remember why I bought it. It must’ve been cheap or something. It’s John Wayne TP.
In the house I’ve kept a coupla 6pks at a time in the linen closet. Some stashed in each bathroom.
We buy the biggest pack you find at the local Walmart but we don’t restock until it’s almost gone.
ETA: Since the store was out of TP, I bought a couple extra gallons of bleach. If this thing really, really drags out, I figure we can always use wash rags and bleach them. It’s less gross than cloth diapers.
Just one twelve-pack. If it isn’t replaced in time, there’s some Kleenex and such lying around to help out. And if things get really dire, I’ll use a washcloth.
Really, some people and their problems. That other thread is spot on.
Varies. Normally don’t go below 4 rolls (2 adults), and then will buy what’s available. Minimum buy is 6 rolls, I think. If they only have that, I just buy that. But if they have the 30 pack on sale for 50% off, then I buy that. And I found one of those just a week ago, so I decided to buy it, even though we weren’t down to the bare minimum.
I live alone. I always buy a pack of 12, mostly because that’s how Trader Joe’s sells it and I like to buy their brand because it has more post-consumer recycled content than even other “green” brands. When it gets down to 1 or 2 rolls remaining I buy another.
It actually takes my a fairly long time to go through a roll, because they way things usually end up being timed I end up going to the bathroom at work and using their TP. So I mostly only ever have to use my own TP on my days off.
I have someone odd TP buying habits. I buy shit-load(hehe) when I find some on sale(maybe 50-80 rolls) then just use it. When I pull the last package(usually an 8-12 roll pack) out of the basement and put it in the bathroom closet I start watching for sales. Then I start the cycle over. When I can’t find a stock up sale I like soon enough I have had to buy a tide-me over pack now and then.
It depends on the sales, but we never have less than 48 rolls. When we had our home built, we were sure that we could store large amounts of shelf stable supplies. Being able to buy things we use already in bulk when they are on sale saves us money and soothes our need to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse.
The one thing we did not foresee was the need for masks in case one of us falls sick. When the next hurricane hits, we will have plenty of masks!
You have choice: Pay more or pay less? Some people don’t care. Some do.
I have found that over a lifetime of saving some here and there it really adds up.
We buy a big box of 24 rolls from Amazon. We* like the type but it’s not longer sold in stores here. It really only pays to buy a bigger amount online. You don’t want to do this for just a couple rolls.
I noticed early last week that we were starting to run a little low so I had it in mind to order some this week. I realized I needed to speed it up a bit and ordered Th., got it Sat. So we should be good.
Re: The OP, so divide 24 + 1 or 2 on hand by 2. Call it 13 on average.
