Have YOU run out of Toilet Paper?

There is apparently a worldwide TP crisis underway. I’m curious how this has affected you and the people you know and love.

My theory is that despite the empty shelves, few people have actually run out, but it’s just a theory, time to get evidence!

We’re well-stocked since I buy a bunch when it’s on sale. I do wonder how long it will be until availability returns to normal and my brand goes on sale again.

I was lucky I bought a bunch at costco right before the shortage. And I also just bought another 30 rolls from costco online. It’s the cheap stuff but I’m not picky.

There was a temporary shortage here, but it seems to have gone now.

I was getting pretty low (which still left me with a safe reserve) at the time that I finally found some, but when I did find some, all they had was the 12-pack, instead of my usual 4-pack. So I’m set for a while now.

I may be giving a few rolls to my mom. She could get out to buy some (Aldi is getting a new shipment every day, and it takes an hour or two to run out), but she’s trying to minimize her number of trips, and she’s well-stocked on everything else.

I know someone who ran out but found some that day at the Pentagon City Costco (which was out when I went a week later for other stuff.)
I still have 20+ rolls leftover from a regular pre-COVID purchase so no shortage in my house.

I did have to bail out my ex-husband. He was completely out of TP. I normally wouldn’t dip into my precious supply for him, but the kids were going to his house for a few days, so I gave him some.

I voted ‘no’ assuming this was about the current situation. But I do recall running out of TP a couple of times in the past.

Nope. I still have an unopened 30 roll Costco brick. My wife has cut way back on her usage, and we have a bidet toilet seat, so a roll is lasting us five days or more.

Getting low Tomorrow’s project is to go out in the morning when the stores are opening.

In 2020 we were supposed to have moon bases and flying cars…

Middle son raided the supply (which I estimate prior to the current crisis was in the 6-month range: my wife buys a lot any time she sees it on sale, and it was often apparently a loss-leader around here) - not sure if he was actually out, but presume he was low enough to be worried.

No, not yet, but I’m getting low and I haven’t been able to find any online.

I am out of Kleenex and that is going to make me crazy.

I never knew so many people regularly keep a mini warehouse of toilet paper in their homes! My budget and storage dictate that I can only buy what I need, so when everyone went apeshit(no pun intended) I had a half roll on the spindle and 1 roll left. I wasn’t able to get any for three weeks. Like, literally the morning after I’d used the last square I was able to find some. A brand and an amount I would never usually buy (because it’s lame and there are much fewer sheets on each roll)but I was so happy you’d think I’d struck gold.

We haven’t run out now because I have run out in the past. So there is always a couple of 12 packs of mega-rolls in the garage. So far we’ve been running down the stock under the bathroom sinks, but I’ll have to crack into one of the garage packs sometime this week, I think.

We have about 2 weeks left. However, I haven’t seen any in my weekly trips to the store and I doubt I do before we run out (I haven’t seen any paper towels, kleenex or TP). It will be interesting once we do run out. I guess I’ll switch to morning showers instead of at night.

I’ve been using Kleenex (thrown into a trash bin) for a couple of weeks now. The little grocery store where I work started selling their own stock roll by roll, but stopped because they’re unable to order more.

I had a mostly full package of TP when the run on them started. I grabbed one extra pack when I found them available (wasn’t specifically looking for them it was a general grocery run). I haven’t even come close to running out.

Very fascinating that this happened. Makes no damn sense.

Question for Bidet owners: How do you dry your asshole?

A much smaller amount of TP than one uses for a full wipe job. Or you can just let your undies take care of the problem.

Also, I misspoke on our TP. We’re actually getting ten days out of a roll, not five.

The Big Crow went to Costco before the virus hit the fan. We still have a thirty-pack plus two six-packs. One of those, the Big Crow got a few days ago when out on a walk. Someone told him a nearby mom-and-pop store had some so he went to see. I was a little shocked to hear he paid ten bucks for it but the more I think about it, I guess that’s not too bad. Not a bargain by any means but not bad. It’s the Costco brand, too.

I also have a four-pack from the convenience store next door that I got a few years ago and have been saving for when we really needed it. I got it free because someone apparently paid for it and then walked off without it. By the time I came in, I guess the cashier was tired of waiting for the customer to come back, so he told me to take it. I felt a little weird about it but accepted it anyway.

So, we’re set for another couple of months, if we’re careful. Hopefully, the TP situation will improve by then.
