Whether, when and how the Floyd protests will go seriously violent

Police/soldiers are not returning with live fire very often yet. This time it’s more like hit and run type events. Speaking of hit-and-run

In St. Louis, Mo., Monday night, four police officers were shot during protests in the city’s downtown area, two in the leg, one in the foot and one in the arm.
Police Chief John Hayden said they were hit by gunfire by “some coward” while standing on the side of a police line.

I wonder how much US protesters will learn from Hong Kong. https://www.reddit.com/r/tampa/comments/gsu1vm/innovative_hong_kong_protesters_use_lasers/

How easy would it be to damage cops’ eyes from a few hundred meters using lasers? Are there handheld infrared lasers which can do that?

Yeah, lasers can wreak havoc. Pilot in this story had eye trouble even 40 minutes after landing. Imagine cops working hours at a protest, getting hit repeatedly.

If that laser tactic makes it to the US, will cops think the laser is attached to a rifle scope?

Speaking of eyes, Dale Murphy’s son got shot with a rubber bullet. I wonder what damage it would have done if it hit him directly in the eye.

Just so that we remember, not all protest have to be violent, on either side.

This one was handled very well.

Of course, many residents are still fearful of even a peaceful demonstration, and recommended using force to disperse them. Local social media contains quite a bit of internet tough guy talk. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed last night.

And of course, there was some, IMHO overreaction from local politicians.
