Which animal has the highest percentage of body water?

See subject, suggested from the “fluid cat” thread, where as usual an adjective or simile was read literally for the sake of a yuck, but also as usual could have turned into a hijack, an interesting one, but a hijack nonetheless.

Obviously, water and land animals have different requirements, so maybe we should have two classes of answers.

Bacteria? Plants? Save them for a separate thread.

So.

Jellyfish have made their appearance. To these I counter sea cucumbers.

Jellyfish are 95% water, so that’s going to be hard to beat.

Paging Karl Pilkington!

And yet against all the odds, Budweiser manages it.

(Jellyfish was my first thought, too, but I was beaten to it so I’ll throw in some beer snark.)

I wonder if those giant single celled marine organisms (such as this one) might be more watery than jellyfish?

The Wikipedia article doesn’t mention their water percentage, but just judging from the opacity they exhibit in the accompanying photos, I’d guess their water percentage is similar to other plants, i.e. quite a bit less than 95%.

I guess it depends on whether that opacity is a surface phenomenon or not.

Homeopathic animals.

Budweiser is an animal on your planet?:dubious:

Yes, I believe Karl Pilkington has more water than a jellyfish. That was before he met his little companion.

Wow, that is amazing! Never seen that before!

Ok, this is a cheat (and probably isn’t a winner anyway) but it does open up a different interpretation for “percentage of body water”.
