What a beautiful cat!
I worked for an organization that did feral cat TNR (trap-neuter-release) and also ran a small shelter. If a cat was tempermentally suitable for adoption, they stayed until someone adopted them. If they would not socialize (happens occasionally, even with young kittens) they were released in a supervised feral colony. The only time my boss would allow an animal to be put down was if it was in pain.
Sometimes it takes a while for an overlords proper servant to appear.
As a long-time kitty foster mama, several of my furbabies were foster children I did not intend to keep. (I won’t hijack this thread with the stories, but they are available if anyone is interested.)
We have a 22# tabby. He has food issues because he was separated from his mother when he was only about five weeks. At least, that’s when we took him in. Some of the weight is due to fat, but also he’s a big cat anyway. He’s not in the least shy about being fat; rather, he loves to lie on his back with his legs splayed so everyone can admire him.
She looks suspiciously like a Bengal. Are those spots, or just looks like it from her position?
If so, check to see if she has spots on her tummy, and if the bottoms of her feet are black. If so, she’s probably a Bengal, or part so.
She really is lovely. Poppy is a nice name, or if you wanted to give her something related to her “old” name, how about Pepper (personality permitting)?
Abigail, nickname Abby is a name I could see for her. She looks like she’s a loving little thing, but prone to being anxious at times. Just take care to soothe her when she is, and she’ll untense.
