Yeah, that first character I know is the lat I’m referring to as spicy food hot. And yeah, I use yit for temperature hot, but like, hmmm…not sure how to explain myself. I think the other lat I’m referring to seems to play the same role as that “tang.” Another Cantonese colloquialism perhaps? But I know we use the other form of lat in this household, usually when my mother would tell me as a kid not to touch that pot cuz it’ll burn my little fingers off.
