Which modern author should a Douglas Adams fan read?

Great recommendation. And her novellas too (All Seated On The Ground is one I remember particularly). One thing about Willis - she seems to have two creative streams - light-hearted, whimsical for the first, punch-you-in-the-gut emotion for the second. I like both, but it’s worth checking out which you have in your hand before starting to read. “To Say Nothing Of The Dog” is a very fine example of the ‘whimsical’ side though.

Oh, just remembered another one: Redshirts by John Scalzi.

Oh lawdy, track down “Even the Queen” because that is fucking hilarious.

Counting down the days till the libraries open back up…

Are your local libraries still doing e-books? Cuz we can still get those remotely here. Might wanna check and see if your library works with one of these apps:

I appreciate it! Apparently my local library mildly sucks in the interesting ebook category mind you (a shame, because it’s always been brilliant in the dead tree category) and is a Willis-free zone - but I did take the poke and check myself out a nice historical mystery to while away the evenings :sunglasses:
