In your humble opinion, what movies are not included in this list? (I know they didn’t qualify according to the rules, but which films are missing if this list was just a list of someone’s “250 Top Movies of All Time”?
I’ll start with a few.
Little Big Man (1970)
Flight of the Phoenix (1965)
Blow (2001)
Older movies are badly underrepresented; the people who rate them are young and aren’t interested in B&W or silent films (with a few exceptions).
So there’s Duck Soup
A Night at the Opera
Bringing Up Baby
The Bank Dick
The Fatal Glass of Beer
Best Boy
The Book of Life
Blancanieves
Arthur Christmas
Twentieth Century
I Walked with a Zombie
The African Queen (1951)
Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)
The Conversation (1974)
Dogma (1999)
Dracula (1931)
The Man Who Would Be King (1975)
The Searchers (1956)
The Three Musketeers (1973)
This and others appear to fall into a large zone of movies which are rated well enough (above 8.1/10), but not rated by enough people to clear the list cutoff. Some movies on the list are actually rated lower, but have been voted by thousands more.
And to replace movies that are there with better movies (not to imply that I think that these movies are themselves worthy of being in the top 250, but that they are better than the movies which are already there).
Caveats:
[ul]
[li]These aren’t necessarily movies that deserve to be in the top 250, they are just better than the movie indicated.[/li][li]They also aren’t necessarily the best movie of that theme, just the first one I thought of that seemed comparable which wasn’t already on the list.[/li][/ul]
