A coworker loaned me 3 thrillers to read. None seem to leap out at me.
Moon Music by Faye Kellerman. Heard of her, never read her.
Critical Mass by Steve Martini. Don’t like what I have read of his. My colleague says this is an exception.
The First Counsel by Brad Meltzer. Never heard of him.
Any quick votes appreciated… plenty of reading time on a long weekend.
I read one of Brad Meltzer’s, I think it was The Tenth Justice, (or something like that); it was his first one.
It was pretty good. A bit draggy in parts, but okay. It was a legal thriller about the Supreme Court. Reminded me of John Grisham a little bit. I haven’t read the one you mentioned.
I read The List by Steve Martini, but not * Critical Mass* (I’m a big help, aren’t I
) Can’t say I remember much about it.
I’ve read The First Counsel - it wasn’t bad. Haven’t read the other two, although I have heard of the authors and have some of their books. Can’t recall what I thought of their books though.
Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
I’ve read the First Counsel. Not bad, and if you’ve never read any of Meltzer’s stuff, you’ll appreciate it. Just don’t bother reading his other books after that…he basically repeats the same formula in each of his books (except Dead Even is a bit different).
The others I couldn’t tell you about.
Of the three, I preferred The First Counsel. I am not a big Faye Kellerman fan but I found Moon Music pretty typical of her. So if you like her you will like this. But if after about a quarter of the book you find you are not really into it, don’t bother to finish.
When it comes right down to it, the only true THRILLER in the traditional sense of the three is Martini’s. It held my attention and had good bits of daring do, but the plot did have a few holes in it, but don’t most thrillers? Hey, they are mind candy, what can I say.
