My 3 year old 17 inch Toshiba Satellite died a couple of weeks ago. I had to buy a new laptop in a hurry. This didn’t happen at the best time budget wise so I narrowed it down to 2 inexpensive laptops that I found on sale this week.
I went with Laptop 1 since I was able to get it quicker. They would have both ended up around the same price. I had to pay 9.3 percent sales tax to buy the store laptop. I would not have paid sales tax on the Amazon laptop 2, but I would have had to wait a couple days for delivery. I would have gotten the $50 Amazon gift card.
My computing needs are very simple, web surfing, iTunes, very light word processing, storing some pictures, no gaming.
I’ve had laptop 1 for 3 days now and I like it. It is much quieter than my old one, I don’t hear the fan going all the time. So far, I like the Windows 7, although I’ve done very little with it so far.
Either of those machines would work just fine for your needs (general light computing). The one you chose has 4gb RAM rather then 2gb, which makes it noticeably faster and more suitable for Win7 64bit. If you’d asked ahead of time, I would have recommended you get the one that you did.
As a non-gadgets person, am I correct in my belief that if your computer needs don’t go beyond sending e-mails and reading the newspaper, any computer that does not spontaneously combust should be suitable?
