Most of the above plus a brand new red, whistling tea kettle!
I wasn’t surprised to see that “electric kettle” wasn’t an option - outside of Alton Brown, Americans just don’t own them. They’re ubiquitus in many places outside the U.S., though.
I have 9 of those plus a popcorn maker, a kettle that you can set the temperature of the water (I love this thing), Henrietta the egg cooker, and something called a Rocket grill. I really don’t use the grill that often. I got it for Christmas one year and it just sits in the cupboard.
I have to say, the kettle, microwave, and egg cooker are used the most. With the popcorn maker following close behind.
I forgot to click other: Pressure cooker and electric kettle.
I have one! But only because a British houseguest harassed me (politely) into getting one.
I have a lot of the other ones on the list, although I’m thinking of getting rid of the deep fryer because we don’t use it much anymore.
I also have a stovetop “Whirley Pop” popcorn maker, and those things are the bomb.
IMO, a pressure cooker or an on-the-stove kettle isn’t an appliance because it does’t plug in. Just sayin’.
My pressure cooker plugs in. It’s electric.
We have 11 off the list, plus an electric kettle. Most of them get used at least once a week. Others, like the electric knife and waffle iron, only get used a handful of times a year. Though I’m not certain we’ve ever used the ice cream maker; it was a Christmas gift and we already had a camping-style ice cream ball.
I have 13 from the list, plus a “set it and forget it” rotisserie. Also a microwave - aren’t those considered to be appliances?
The most used ones are the rotisserie, the toaster oven, and the microwave, and along with the toaster, and they’re the only ones on the counter. The least used would be the coffee maker, breadmaker, and the ice cream maker. The coffee maker only comes out when the inlaws are in town. The rest are used sporadically, with the hand mixer and stand mixer probably most used of the rest.
So does mine.
THAT’S MINE!
I got mine at Costco, too.
Yeah, but the in-store price was cheaper than that. I got it a few months ago, when I was foreseeing a bunch of unpredictable work OT. I mean it’s great that I get paid for OT, but not if I end up spending it all on takeout food because I’m too hungry to wait for dinner to cook when I get home! Best impulse purchase I’ve made in ages.
I forgot our electric knife - Zyada says it’s great for turkey. She also says we have an electric griddle.
Other: electric frying pan, egg cooker (not decorated like Ludy’s), a coffee grinder, and of course an electric kettle.
In addition to the microwave, toaster oven, stand mixer, waffle iron, griddle, etc. that I’ve got, I’ve got an air popper for popcorn and an electric skillet. A lot of this stuff gets used in cycles because it depends on what I’m cooking and for whom; I use the toaster oven in the summer, or when I’m just cooking for two people. It makes no sense to me to heat up the entire kitchen for two small pieces of fish or chicken. I’ve also used the griddle a lot because I can make more sandwiches at once, with a lot less grease, and with a lot less hassle. The skillet is great for stuff that has to take a while to cook, so I don’t have to tie up a burner on the stove. The only problem I have is that the kitchen doesn’t have enough outlets, so I have to unplug what I’m not using so I can use other stuff and hope I don’t trip the circuit breaker.
I was going on the plug-in aspect too, so I didn’t select griddle, which lays across two burners on the stove. Stovetop for the whistling teakettle, too, which I use several times a week for ice tea.
I think the only other major thing I have that isn’t on the list is a meat slicer. I use it fairly often. It’s great for slicing pork loin and ham.
No wait: I have a yogurt maker that I’m mad at. I can’t seem to get the hang of it. It’s in the basement. Stupid runny homemade yogurt!
Single cup coffee maker, toaster, microwave (which gets used as a timer more than to cook with!), heavily used bread maker, waffle iron, stick blender, hand mixer, two crock-pots, rice cooker (gets used more for chicken and veggies), small George Foreman. Plus ice-tea pot, quesadilla maker, and kettle. I would have a deep-fryer and a blender but I just don’t have room.
:smack: my juicer cost me $200 = and ice cream maker ( A bitch to clean) also $300+
where is this planet goodwill?
I didn’t check “coffee maker” because I have a French press. I have both a regular blender and a stick as well as a Cuisinart purchased in 1983. Other than waffle maker (hand-me-down) and ice cream maker – I just don’t go for single-use appliances. Therefore no bread-maker. I have a range with a small secondary oven and a built-in griddle, so no George Foremans, toasters, toaster-ovens, etc. I have a largish kitchen and I wouldn’t have room for all that crap. Ditto with crock pots and electric griddles and panini machines and rice cookers and deep fryers … my stove works just fine for all of that. I lived all my adult life with just a hand mixer, but last year splurged for my birthday and got a long-desired KitchenAid stand mixer – the all-metal-gear, 6-qt bowl, dough-hook-bigger-than-you-can-imagine version.
Coffee maker and Rice cooker. That’s it. And we cook ourselves.
Most used:
-Hot water cooker several times a day, as well as the microwave/electric oven/grill (all in one);
-My juicer gets used every Sunday, when we have an elaborate breakfast with fresh juice. It is also my way of using up all the fruit in the fruit bowl that starts to go bad.
-My mixer (all in one) gets used at least once a week, usually for making pancake batter.
Seldom used:
-I use the coffeemaker only for guests, but I like the way it looks on the countertop.
-The deep fryer is my husbands toy, he loves making french fries every two months.
-The Ferrari pizza oven we got as a gift. We use it seldom, but it is great at our occasional make-your-own-pizza-dinner-parties where we set out doughpatties and toppings.
-We have an gourmet party set, and have used it three times, but it lives in the shed and I don’t think we will use it anymore.
-The toaster I used to use every day, but since I had a gastric bypass I can no longer stomach bread, so it has been put away.
-George foreman. Seemed like a good idea, but I only use it for corn on the cob.
I have no other gadgets, if I don’t use them, out they go.
