Snopes.com started in 1995 I think. The Drudge Report also launched in 1995. I might not particularly like Drudge, but he has succeeded at running the site for 20 years.
ETA: Wiki says Drudge stated as an email newsletter in 95 and the site launched in 97. Huh. And that is about as much time as I want to spend familiarizing myself with Drudge.
