What percentage of Dot-Com companies that advertised over Last year’s Super bowl are sill in business?
Well, lets take the list of ads from this page…
http://www.usatoday.com/money/admeter/2000msb007.htm
I count 14 legitimate “dot-coms”.
Dead:
Computer.com: http://www.computer.com now takes you to http://www.computers4sure.com…geez, why’d they give up on that domain name?
Pets.com: had a very well documented death. They auctioned off the sock puppet. petsmart.com has taken over the pets.com domain.
Nearly Died:
Healtheon-WebMD: I recall that WebMD came very close to running out of money last summer. Their stock is now at 10, up from a low of 5 in December, down from a high of 75 back in early 2000.
Not sure about the rest of these…I don’t believe any of these are completely out of business but none are doing well.
Kforce
Lifeminders.com
Netpliance
OnMoney.com
OurBeginning.com
These companies still advertise regularly so I’m guessing that they are somewhat healthy.
E-Trade
HotJobs.com
Monster.com
