Which President would you most like to be serving during the current crisis?

Then you’re ignorant of American history.

And never say things can’t be worse. Because worse will come along and stick it’s boot up your ass.

Jon Stewart tells a joke about how lots of countries say that their current political situation is the worst the country has ever had.

Then he adds, they never say that in Germany.

I don’t get the joke. Perhaps what they say about Germans and humor is true?

Any of these would do a good job. I would give the edge to Obama simply because he is familiar with 21st century governance/communication and handled the ebola outbreak well.

I think a more interesting question would be which President would have best handled a similar crisis in their own time. I would say FDR who would have been tremendous especially at mobilizing the public to wear masks and social distance.

With the way Reagan handled Aids, I’m pretty surprised anyone would choose him.

I’d go with Obama since he’d already had a plan in place and seemed to do ok with the ebola threat.

Because the German government under Hitler has never been surpassed in its enormity. No matter how bad things are in Germany, nobody will ever say, “Remember the good ol’ days of the Nazis?”

Hey, my reply was a joke! A German bad joke, evidently, but a joke nonetheless…

“I don’t get the joke” is a pretty deadpan joke. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Hoover. Dam Underrated.

Taft - He was an intellectual and a great hands on manager. He quickly negotiated peace in a Cuban revolution and established a functioning government in the Philippines.

JFK - Kennedy, with 70% approval, was a cultural phenomenon. His popularity was different than FDR, Reagan, or Obama. It was something personal. Vaughn Meader brought the Kennedy family right into our homes. Kennedy had the intellect and skill to address the pandemic and the personal influence to make things happen. If JFK had said wear masks - it would have been done immediately, by everyone. We probably would have made them out of diapers.
