Which printer brand(s) to you most trust?

I messed up in posting this poll. I will ask mods to close it and we can carry on here.

So…

I am in the market for a new printer. I have owned printers by a few different manufacturers in the past but I have yet to develop any sense of brand loyalty.

Maybe I’ve just been unlucky, but I’ve never owned one that I was impressed by.

Poll coming. Budget is around a hundred clams.

Looking for a cheap, color inkjet printer/copier/scanner for light duty home use.

Thanks,
mmm

Depends on inkjet or laser. You say the former. I have a memory of reading that Epson was the best in conversation, but can’t find a specific link now. I randomly Google-found a link saying that Brother is the best, with the caveat that it’s only 4 specific models. But a bonus! I recognize that the embedded link is by our own Mangetout. Here’s another by money wasted.

Brother by far – specifically their consumer lasers, black and white or color. Don’t get an inkjet, especially a color one. Ink will be a ripoff. If you don’t print enough to make a laser worth it ($180), FedEx and Shutterfly would be better choices. IMO, of course.

Epson Work Force and Brother printers get the best reviews by far. HP has made it their mission to screw their customers and it shows. My only beef with Epson is that the ink cartridges don’t last very long. I buy replacements from LD Products, which work fine in them and are much cheaper than Epson cartridges.

I had a temp job for a while repairing HP printers. BEAUTIFUL machines. Highest engineering standards imaginable. Actually a true delight to work inside them.

Alas, as a consumer, I don’t like 'em. They play the game of charging way too much for ink/toner.

We have a Brother. I don’t care about that one way or another. Prints fine.

But I’ll be damned if I’m going to let Epson take the lead!

For me, it’s Epson all the way, but I use them almost exclusively for photo printing. Love their inks and color gamut. But that’s a bit different than your use. That said, my light duty all-in-one is also an Epson.
