Which sports teams have, for lack of a better choice of words, theme songs?

I think most Orlandoans have forgotten the song (it was everywhere in the Shaq/Penny era whether you were watching basketball or not). But my wife and I always scream out the “it’s gonna getchaaaaaaa!” part.

Oh it’s everywhere today if you keep up with the team. Literally every win one of those videos gets posted.

The New Orleans Saints have been using “When the Saints Go Marching In / Who Dat” since at least 1983.

Bye, Bye, Baby (SF Giants)

Rip City Rhapsody (early 90s Portland Trailblazers)

They use it heavily at their fundraiser events. The call for checkbooks! Enduring endowments! Tickets … maybe!

If Irvine Welsh can be trusted, the Edinburgh soccer team Hibernian uses the Pretenders “Sunshine Over Leith” as their theme song.

@Slow_Moving_Vehicle - Proclaimers. And what a great song that one is.

nitpick
Sunshine On Leith

Obviuosly many teams (or fans) have adopted existing songs as their own theme tunes, but if you mean songs that have been specifically written for or about an existing team, then there’s a fairly rich seam from the 70s and 80s when British football teams went through this weird phase of putting out (often awful) songs to coincide with cup finals. Both club teams and the English national side.

Some of these have stuck and are played at matches still, such as ‘Blue is the Colour’ for Chelsea FC and ‘It’s coming home’ for England.

It’s Coming Home is from Euro '96 though.

It was, but it was still about the England team

I was in 6th grade the year the Chargers made it to the Super Bowl and we had to learn to sing that song for some kind of rally that I barely remember because I didn’t care about football and was bored out of my skull.
