Which was the best Roger Moore Bond film?

Well I meant in his approach to operations, which was almost exactly what Fleming’s Bond had, no nonsense, methodical and at times amoral.

Bond, BTW DID have quite a few eccentriaties, quirks and was most certainly an iconoclast. Wrt to women, he enjoyed having sex with them, he was however misogynistic to an extreme degree even by the standards of the 1960’s.

The 70s Bond movies are really curious artifacts of their era - You’ve got the blaxploitation Bond of Live and Let Die; the undersea adventure Bond of Spy Who Loved Me, complete with disco version of the theme; and the shameless attempt to capitalize on the popularity of Star Wars Bond, Moonraker.

Anyway, Spy Who Loved Me is my favorite of the Moore years: Some kick ass stunts, a smoking Bond girl and that great intro, but not too over-the-top.

“Scott, you just don’t get it do you?”

THIS!!! I will forever maintain that Octopussy stands as the best example of the suave yet cheesy nature of Bond

To be fair, they tried the ‘take him into a back alley and shoot him’ trick earlier in the film. It didn’t work out too well for them.

I’ll amend my selection with a 3rd reason: disco 007 theme!
