White House-brewed beer: A platform Obama should run on.

The White House brews its own beer, including Honey Porter and Honey Blonde Ale, made with the honey from Michelle Obama’s White House garden and equipment the Obamas bought with their own money.

He should put the recipe up on his Facebook page for anyone who friends him.

Here is a candidate you could not only have a beer with, he brews the beer himself. Romney would have a hard time one-upping that.

What a perfect cover for a Muslim…homebrewing!

4 more beers!

4 more beers!

I agree.

They should hop to it.

Malto Bravo!

I want Billy Carter’s recipe.

Not many people know that George Washington tried his hand at whiskey distilling toward the end of his life. Didn’t last long, maybe 18 months, and the distillery near Mount Vernon was dismantled over time. But then it was rebuilt and is now a tourist attraction packaged with Mount Vernon. We visited it in April but was too late to buy some from the gift shop, as it had closed for the day.

But I think the White House should dabble in this too.

Definitely. That’s cool.

Well, if they’re like the folks calling for him to release his birth certificate, they’re probably not going to like the Honey Porter just because it’s black.

I had some and no you don’t.

Didn’t he distill some thing like 500 barrels during that time though? That’s not exactly in the same league as some minor hobby brewing.

I wonder who owns the rights to Billy Beer these days. A lot of the craft breweries have been resurrecting defunct local macro brand names and putting “american pale ales” or some such in the can. I could see a decent (but not too decent) beer in a Billy Beer can doing well among the ironic hipster market.

I’ve not been on reddit before, but this was a funny post under the reddit link:

But what I do want is an unopened six-pack of Billy Beer. Even 30 years ago, I believe I saw an ad from someone offering hundreds of dollars for one. May be worth more now.

How long before the demands for the long form recipe?

Somebody on Pawn Stars recentiy brought in a case of unopened Billy Beer, and Rick didn’t even make an offer. He said there was so much of it still around, it had no value at all.

Looks like it was a pretty big deal:

A friend of mine has a few unopened cans in his kitchen. They’re pretty rusty.
Romney’s next move it to announce that he a man of the people who likes a drink as well – he owns 4 wineries.

It needs a name. I suggest Rolling Barack.

We’ve actually had a lot of teetotallers on Presidential tickets lately. Bush stopped drinking after fighting with alcoholism. Biden had an alcoholic father and so doesn’t drink. Romney doesn’t drink for religious reasons.

(I’d think Cheney would abstain due to his heart problems, but googling its hard to tell if that’s the case. Most of the results I get back are speculation regarding his drinking before the “great lawyer hunt of '06”, but they’re pretty light on actual info).
