Most White House on-line petitions are either jokes or the work of cranks.
So, I thought I’d start one that actually makes sense! One that most sports fans outside of Duke University can get behind.
If any sports figure deserves the Medal of Freedom, I’d say it’s Dean Smith.
If you agree, vote here. Obama is a big enough basketball fan that he’d probably love to do it, if he gets even a little prompting. I only wish it had been done sooner, while the coach was in better health and better able to appreciate the honor. But better late than never.
