This was a brilliant move by BHO. Because now the hero of the right is Donald J. Trump… which should give him a good bump in the polls… making him a viable candidate… and either the eventual GOP nominee or a kingmaker… meaning a) all the Dems need to do for 2012 is to re-run some Marla Maples scandal rag stories, or b) Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, or Tim Pawlenty is going to have to spend time kissing Trump’s ass, or giving the troll attention… which can only hurt them.
Right. Obama’s mistake was not waiting another 6-12 months. All the GOP nominees will be moving to the crazier & crazier conservative side. Wait until all of them are calling for the BC release and them make all of them look like wackos. Sure, making Trump even more of a frontrunner isn’t a bad move, but why not wait until all the GOP noms are deep into Tea Party pandering?

Trump Unable To Produce Certificate Proving He’s Not A Festering Pile Of Shit
People who only care about what sells should be in marketing, not journalism. I’m sure marketing is a great and noble profession, and I’m getting close to my sarcasm quotient here, but if you call yourself a member of the news media, you have to focus on informing people, not just what sells. There is room for entertainment in the news, but for years, the entire birther thing has stayed alive in large part because the press continued to treat it like an issue and not a matter of settled fact.
Trump seems to be the only candidate who is a birther. The rest have distanced themselves.
It never fails to induce a metaphorical facepalm, seeing posts relating to this asinine issue.

Say what you will about Obama, but you have to admit he and/or his staff know politics. A black guy who wrested the Democratic nomination from a Clinton? I still can hardly believe it. So whatever speculation I have about the political advantages of this move, I’m gonna guess they know what they’re doing.
He’s not going to run. The fact that he put all his eggs in this one basket (and is now moving on to questioning Obama’s college grades) proves he’s not serious. He’s doing it for ego or The Apprentice ratings. Some of the GOP candidates have distanced themselves from the birther thing (I know Pawlenty and Romney have) and none have overtly embraced it, but they haven’t all totally rejected it. They’re trying to please voters on both sides. 
Palin has made birther-y comments, and remeber Huckabee thinks Obama was raised in Kenya.
Or Indonesia. They’re pretty much the same thing anyway, right?

Why are the birthers focusing so much on layers in the PDF when the PDF is just what the White House created to put the info on the Internet? It’s not like Hawaii sent the BC via PDF. Hawaii sent the hardcopies and someone at the WH scanned a copy and converted to PDF. Focusing so much on the internals of the PDF seems like pointless noise.
Aside from being a good band name, “pointless noise” seems to have been the object of the exercise from the get-go.
(I suppose that for some of the participants, there is a point: to distract Obama from his nefarious scheme to turn the US into a Marxist fascist Nazi communist socialist Muslim atheist society governed by Sharia law. But for 97.83441% of the players, it’s just noise.)
Actually, I think I can answer that. I was just reading about Trump and wondering what that dead animal on his head was doing to his brain when a thought jelled. I do a lot of photo copying for historical archiving. I use to do it with camera’s but now I scan them.
The recent birth-certificate image released was a complete hose-up from the start having nothing to do with the document itself or it’s legitimacy or the need for it’s publication. However, the image itself reeks of visual stupidity and thus negates or makes worse it’s release.
To start with, it’s obvious it was scanned from a book so obviously the original was in bound form. that’s fine by itself. from there, it has been cropped or framed with another image. if the original document had a background pattern then they’ve duplicated it and added it to the border. If not, then they have added the pattern. Either way there was no reason to alter the document in this manner. They also cropped the left side of the document where more of the hand notes are. They then added a scanned signature of authenticity and stamp to the whole thing.
This was extremely shoddy work that creates conspiracy instead of quelling it. I seriously doubt the White House did this. It’s more likely from some clerk in Hawaii.
Those are crappy reasons that only keep fueling bigots and crazies. It has zero validity. There is no justification for the birthers now and there never has been.
I’m not a birther but you addressed nothing about what I’ve said. They fucked up this image. A child could have done a better job.
