Who are your favorite gods?

And Cecil is his prophet.

Another vote for Osiris, Isis and Bast. Egyptian gods are teh r0xx0rz.

And I really like Kokopelli, because he looks like he’s just having so much darn fun.

My favorites are always in the Celtic pantheon. Ceridwen, Cernunnos, Bridgid, Finn Mac Cumhail, etc.

The Kindly Ones.

Who are more than mere gods but I’m afaid of what will happen if I don’t mention them (yes, I’ve been corrupted by Neil Gaiman too).
Beyond that:

Artemis

My favourite as a kid. Goddess of the Hunt. Cool bow and arrow. Ran around in the woods and didn’t let Zeus tell her what to do. Set packs of dogs on icky boys who bothered her.

Of course then I got older and found out perpetual viginity was part of the package and it didn’t seem so appealing :frowning: .

Of course then I got even older and found out the Greeks may have been wrong about that  .

I do like Bridgid, I have always loved the fact the Roman Catholic church had to create a Saint Brigit to co-opt Bridgid’s worship.

I though Finn was only a hero and not a god?

Jim

Athena, and I still retain some girlhood tomboy fondness for Artemis.

Didn’t the emperor Fabulous enstate their worship?

So say we all.

Gimme that old time religion…

Let us pray to Zarathrusta
Pray just like we used ta
I’m a Zarathrusta Booster!
And that’s good enough for me

(Thanks to Pete Seeger)

Bastet.

Huitzilopochtli, the “Hummingbird from Paradise,” blood-soaked Aztec god of war and human sacrifice. The Aztecs knew the Hummingbird was the meanest mofo in creation.

Wotan.

Cool name, plus the whole hanging ont he tree, cutting out his eye, self sacrifice thing is quite interesting.

And he was fun to watch in Wagner’s Ring cycle.

Reminds me of an old joke …

Back in the day Thor was wandering the earth disguised as a simple trader, as was his wont. On his journies he happened across the most beautiful woman in all the lands of the earth. He seduced her and for three days they made wild and crazy love.

Before he leaves, he decides she should know who he really is.

Thor reveals himself in all his glory. “Know O Woman”, he boasts, “I am Thor!”

“You think you’re thore? I’m pothitively beat!”

– PS, my vote: Phil the Prince of Insufficient Light.

Freyja and Athena.

But Huitzilopochtli has the best name, and I’m bitter I didn’t get to mention him first.

Hades.
I like how he’s kinda quiet and to himself, like me, even though he’s a god and besides, Hades: Lord of the Underworld just sounds badass.

After Hades I’ll have to say Og for the simple reason of OG SMASH!

“I though Finn was only a hero and not a god?”

Some people consider him a god, some do not. God or not, he has the most awesome name and he should always be included in a list like this one.

In the church of Aphrodite
The priestess wears a see-through nighty;
She’s a mighty righty sighty
And she’s good enough for me!

Of late, Hecate.

Forgive my ignorance, I am new. But what exactly is The Perfect Master’s status? Has he finally ascended from the ranks of us lower men?

AP
(and no I don’t mean he has become a woman :stuck_out_tongue: )

His Apotheosis has been delayed, for tax reasons. Ask his accountant.
