Who Came Up With Our Popular Image of Jesus

Jesus was born in the Middle East, so he could not have had white skin and an overall Euro appearance. He looked like everyone else born there. In the Gospels of Matthew (Matthew 26:48) and Mark (Mark 14:44) in Garden of Gethsemane when Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, he told the guards, “the one I kiss is him.” Judas had to tell the guards who Jesus was because he looked like everyone else there. If he’d had white skin and the Euro appearance, he would have stood out like a sore thumb and would not have had to be pointed out.
