Who /doesn't/ love Qadgop?

He’s a great vegemite resource indeed!

:: toasts (heh, heh, heh) Qadgop ::

Without a doubt he’s one of the most valuable posters on the board. Without him there’d be a huge hole down which we would all fall and twist our ankles.

And Qadgop? Thanks for the ‘vegetarian infant’ advice last year. It hit the spot.

Mandarins, clementines, tangerines, bergamots, tangelos, they’re all bloody oranges! Including the blood orange, of course.

But I must delve into Kumquats and ugli fruit!

Saturday there was a memorial service for the accident victims, 1 year later. Mrs. Mercotan went, but I did not. Frankly, the thought of my wife and daughter having come within seconds of fiery death still unnerves me. My renter and his son were killed in it, along with 8 others. My renter’s widow moved to the local town to be closer to her widowed daughter-in-law, who just over 4 months ago gave birth to a boy. The farmhouse is currently occupied by the youngest son and his wife and family.

Happy to be of service.

Well, sometimes I am.

Tangerines definately deserve their own group. Try some of those little spanish clementines. Heavenly. I have a kumquat tree in my yard- I’m anxiosly awaiting them to completely turn orange before I gobble them all up myself. The branches are about ready to break because the little fruits are so heavy now.

Oh, and Qagdop is cool, too.

Try Outpost on Capitol for kumquats. They had 'em when I worked there. Can’t say I was a big fan, though.

Psssssst, Qadop. Ugli fruit might look all scary and cool, but they’re just oranges too. Now kumquats’ll make your eyes pop.

Kumquats at Outpost it is!

Sounds like the R&D boys will be spreading some serious bonus dollars around Sheboygan this year.

Props to ya, QtM.

Kudos as well, for the always-informative Tolkien posts and the great sauce recipe.

Qadgop’s a great person, and an informative poster too. I always look forward to his tales of being a prison doc, or at least some funny comment.

I love him like the Doctor I never had.

Kumquats are yum and I liked the doctor till he mentioned ostrich sausage.

I thoroughly approve of Qadgop, for his knowledge, his good humour, and his starkly indescribable taste in literature.

Yeah, when it comes to defining the essence of the SDMB I think Qadgop fits the bill… and he fights ignorance with style.

I’ll join those singing Qadgop’s praises, as long as no one complains about me being off-key. His kids are pretty cool posters, too.

If you don’t consider tangerines worthy of their own citrus category, I doubt you would award one to either the kumquat or the ugli.

The ugli fruit, is, I believe, a hybrid of the tangerine and the grapefruit. It is, indeed, rather ugly. I’ve found some to be quite tasty, and others bitter as all get-out.

I like kumquats, but, IIRC, it’s usually easiest to find them in stores around Christmas time or so. They’re very interesting — the peel is the sweet part, and the pulp inside is very tart. I like to use them as a garnish when I make a Harvey Wallbanger cake — make three slashes across the top of the kumquat, and peel the skin back from the top half to make it look like petals on a flower. You can stick a cherry half in the center to make them look more like a flower.

What’s a praise-singing thread without a little food commentary thrown in?

He’s all that and our most informed and professional Tolkienologist, too. Any questions on medicine or Elvish, you know who to go to.

Anybody ever tried “buddha’s hand citron”? They claim it’s a citrus fruit! http://www.saalfelds.freeserve.co.uk/BuddhasHandCitron.htm

This link says you can eat it too!

Qadgop is the lime twist in the great SDMB mixed drink; the perfect touch to a great tasting mix (of people).

I like QtM so much I’m considering relocating to his state and committing a heinous crime so I can be imprisoned and thus meet him in person and benefit from his munificence.
