Has anyone brought up the Idea that maybe the
Afghan Northern Alliance attacked the U.S.
in order to get the U.S. military to support
it’s cause?
Is that so far fetched?
just wondering what you all think.

ummmmm… no. That’s silly.
I believe they were ruled out because the Northern Alliance does not have the financial resources to orchestrate such an attack. But I have heard rumors that Iraq was involved in the attacks, either unknowingly (via supplying money, weapons, and training) or with full knowledge (supplying volunteers.)
I don’t think any of the identified hijackers were from Afghanistan. It seems doubtful that the Northern Alliance could have enlisted foreign agents to do their work for them.

Well, it’s a step ahead of my theory - that the people who run the observation deck of the Empire State Building did it - they’re the highest in town, now. (It’s also better than my other theory - that Mark McGwire did it, trying to throw off Barry Bonds and stop him from breaking his record).
But don’t bank on it.
This is more of a Great Debate than a General Question. It has already been discussed in GD, but I don’t have a link.
