Who else is sick of movies where you see the blues of their eyes?

You know these blue screen filmed movies where they add in most stuff later, and the charaters all haves blues instead of whites to their eyes. Correct the whites back to whites, I’m sick of the blue in blue eyed allien impersonated actors. Blue in blue is wrong unless it’s Dune, and not everyone in that movie either.

Not my wife, that’s for sure. As a Thai, she’s fascinated by blue-eyed Westerners. Alas! My own eyes are not blue.

The whole eye is blue, and I’m sick of them doing all the computer add ins and leaving the whites colored blue. The iris can be blue, thats a normal color for the iris.

Can you show an example? I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Dune?

I don’t think we’ve seen this. Geez, I’d probably have to drag the wife out of the theater in that case.

At this moment I can’t. I’ve seen it on DVD’s that are rented or loaned. The eyes have a blue cast in them that once you know to look for it, it’s obvious on all the cast in some scenes or the whole movie. You might never pay attention to it, but when you know it’s there you can’t miss it.

It’s sort of like Pachelbel’s Canon you hear every day, but tune it out. Youtube Pachelbel Rant

Do you think it could be the faint blue tint of prescription contact lenses? The whites of my eyes look blue right around my irises because of this.

I’ll see you in hell, Pachelbel!!!

 OMG, that really made my day! Thank you HD!

The day I watched that I heard it two times within a couple hours. One on a tv show, and one in a commercial. The guy has some other funny bits on youtube also. He’s super funny.

The blue tinted whites are from the reflection off the large blue backdrop used in filming.

Are you sure it isn’t from contact with the spice? Most Fremen have problems with this…
edit: Bah, someone beat me to it, but it is worth restating because Harmonious Discord got mini-whooshed.

No, I mentioned Dune in my original post, so who got whooshed here?

I think I can still pronouce all the names correctly and most of the terms used in the Dune series. I greatly enjoy Dune.

Except most films use green screens these days…

Are you sure it’s not the color of your TV that needs adjusting??

Missed that part, I’m slow tonight. I’ll slink away now :smack:

That is fucking hilarious. Thanks for linking it.
In the oddly non-blue category, ever see The Osterman Weekend? Rutger Hauer (with his icy-blue eyes) plays the husband of Meg Foster (with her even icier blue eyes) and they have a son… with brown eyes. Seems to me if those two had a kid for real, his eyes would be completely white.

If you liked that, you should check out the favorites from YouTube thread. That one, along with many other great ones, are there.

I haven’t seen that.

You seem to be talking about two different things. Whether they’re using doing blue-screen (or actually, green-screen) work should have nothing to do with the visual effect you’re describing. In fact, if it did, you’d expect to see blues as white, not the other way around.

In some recent movies, the director has felt it would be cool to tint his cinematic world in shades of blue (e.g., the recent crappy Underworld movie). Maybe this is what you’re talking about.

Nobody knows what it’s like to be the bad man, to be the sad man…
