Who else lives in Monterey?

Well? How many other dopers live in the lovely community or its surrounding areas?

Well, I used to.

Since I don’t expect a factual answer to the OP’s question, this is moved to MPSIMS.

Well, according to my awesome Google-fu skillz, just under 30,000 people.

What?!!??

Monterrey is a city of several million, is it not?

What?

Not Monterrey, Nuevo Léon, Mexico?

I’ve been to Monterey, California. The area is extremely scenic, and I’d like to see it again.

And only 1 doper? :dubious:

Yep, I’m here. Though technically I’m in Seaside.

handy lived in Pacific Grove. Maybe you should look him up.

I was stationed on the USS Monterey (CG-61) for two years.

Does that count?

I would live there. I love it there. For years I spent my birthday week there, usually at the Inn at Spanish Bay. I don’t even golf! I just love how beautiful the Del Monte forest is. We’d just spend time walking everywhere or just sitting watching the ocean. Did I mention my birthday is in January? Winter is my favorite time of year there.

Before we had our son we seriously disussed moving to the area. However, we are really tied to our community here in Sacramento and all our family and friends are here.

I’m almost in Seaside (Casanova Ave).

I live in Marina, but go to Monterey at least once a week. I actually grew up around here.

I have a neice in Seaside, and a nephew-in-law, and two grand-nephews.
Close enough?

My parents live in PG - I was just there for two weeks. They have been their for over 30 years…

mmm, I love me some Scotch Bakery donuts (on Lighthouse, across from the Holman Building - gawd, I remember shopping at Holman’s when I was a kid!)

A friend of mine lives in Aromas. Does that count?

I used to live there as well: I was in the area when they had a large fish kill (well, sardines aren’t exactly known for their size, but they made up for it in numbers). That made going along the bike path a bit nauseating for awhile.

I’ll admit, there’s nothing quite like going to sleep listening to the sea lions going ‘aurf, aurf, aurf, aurf’, and seeing the bright lights of the fishing boats at night/early morning.
