Who else thinks white christmas lights are ugly?

No they do not look like icicles not now not ever… To me they are an eyesore…They are not even white! Some ugly off white yellow color. Now the ones that are true white are awesome to look at . But these yellow looking ones with little strangs hanging down…no no no…

Not necessarily ugly, but boring, yup.

If they’re stung up to look like icicles, I suppose they’re up there with plastic flamingos in your yard, but white lights can be quite pretty.

What I don’t like are multicolored lights, especially the blinky ones. Yuck.

I don’t care for them. But if I were the kind of man who decorated, I would put up all blue lights. I don’t know why, but I always thought that they were pretty. (We only ever had mixed colors growing up.)

White incandescent lamps are nice - I have them on the tree and the village square where I live is decorated only with white incandescents - it lends a nice vintage feel to the whole setting.

I’m getting a bit tired of blue LEDs, to be honest - too intense.

Some of the white LED lights are not particularly pretty either - they look cold, but in a clinical, not wintry way.

I prefer the white myself. I guess the multi-colored lights started to remind me too much of decorations on a double-wide.

White or multi-colored incandescents are fine. The white LEDs that are the color of industrial flourescents should be banned as a public health hazard. I can feel the UV coagulating my corneas from 3 blocks away.

Back in the eastern 'burbs of Cleveland, white and blue lights are usually displayed by Jewish households. It’s something that fits in with the holiday light displays of surrounding neighbors, yet doesn’t betray their Jewish heritage.

I like the white lights they hang on the trees in New York.

I prefer the incandescent-looking ones (off-white), they are like candles. Also white ones, more like stars. They all look much cleaner and more realistic than the neony, colorful ones. I can’t stand the multi-colored ones, if I did, I would move to Las Vegas.

White lights are generic, boring and soulless. The neighborhoods full of McMansions around here must have a white light only clause, because you have tons of boring cookie cutter houses with the same boring white lights. Yawn.

Gimme colored lights any day! They are more joyful and magical.

I normally think white lights are pretty boring but the can sometimes look nice. square in my town is decorated with tons of white lights. They’re in the trees and strung on ropes between the courthouse and the surrounding buildings. It’s beautiful.

While I don’t decorate the outside of my home, on the inside I like lots of brightly colored lights and sparkly snowflakes and bright and cheerful Christmas tree ornaments. Winter is such a cold gray mucky season, it’s nice to surround myself with colors for a while.

My dad tried to put up multi-colored lights on our tree yesterday, but my mom and I protested violently. Our ornaments are all over the place (as in, they have no common theme whatsoever) so it looks nicer if the lights are just one color.

In the South, where you can’t count on snow, I prefer white lights. In the North, I think multicolored lights look pretty against the snow.

White is boring, and only works if your entire neighborhood is using colored ones. But when everyone on the block has white lights – icicle lights or not – the effect is dull beyond belief.

Love colored lights. White lights are too conservative-looking for my taste.

Multi colored lights are authentic! Thats what I grew up with. There.

I grew up with strings of big multi-colored bulbs nailed to the front of your house. That was 30 years ago. Now, I prefer to decorate the bushes, trees, and rock ledges of my front yard with individual strands of white lights where you can choose the flash pattern. It looks simple and beautiful. And oh yeah, the Stones are more awesome than the Beatles.

I just bought and put up my very first xmas tree. It’s a beautiful artificial one, 7.5 feet high, with 800 white lights. I then added a few hundred more that randomly twinkle. That made a huge difference. Then I went out of my way to get really colorful ornaments. It’s gorgeous.
