Who else wants to play Jai-Alai?

I don’t mean wager on it - I mean PLAY it!

Looks like fun, but where would one go to try it? I see that it’s played in Florida. Wonder if they ever have pickup games…

Has anyone here every played Jai-Alai? What’s it like?

It’s generally gambled on, so you don’t see a lot of street jai-alai. IIRC, it’s like fast-paced raquetball.

I want to play, but I know that I can’t play. So I’m in but I’m out.

(Lenny Leonard’s apartment shares a wall with a fronton, maybe he could help you start in on the game. Monty and Waylon also play.)

I remember that there’s an exit somewhere along I-91 (or is it I-95?) in Connectict where Jai-Alai is actually advertised. Like, it’s a state highway sign. So if you’re in that area, you might want to get off there. Northbound.

When I was in Biarritz in France in 1999, some posters advertised a jai alai championship, which is about as close as I’ve ever got the game live. Setting aside the prospect of killing yourself it looks like fun.
