Who gets the delivery charge when you have a pizza or chinese food delivered?

Uh…yes, they do pay delivery fees to their vendors, as well as waste disposal.

Cheap bastards, jesus! We added one dollar to the price of whatever you bought Go get it yourself, it’s fifteen dollars, have it brought to you all wrapped up and warm, it’s a dollar more. No wonder I hate people!

Very hard. These are not union employees. Drivers are a dime a dozen, especially right now, with so many people looking for work; management in a pizza place wouldn’t hesitate to can all their drivers if they caught a whiff of any attempt at organization.

  • From a former driver and general manager of a pizza place

Let me try again.

I run a pizza place and I sell pizza. People come in and buy pizza…this is good.

However, there seems to be a demand for people getting pizza delivered to their homes. I am happy to provide this…but this costs me more than people coming in. So, I have 3 choices:

  • Set the price of the pizza with delivery as the default option and offer a discount to people coming in to pick it up.

  • Set the price of the pizza with people coming in as the default and charging for delivery.

  • Set the price somewhere inbetween and have the people coming in subsidize the delivery folks. I dont like this option because I would be less competitive with other walk in pizza places so customers would tend to go elsewhere.

Nowhere in this analysis is the driver involved except as part of the cost…I do have to pay his hourly rate.

As for how I pay for ingredients…I bet I would pay delivery charges as well. I bet a significant amount of money that if went to the vender and picked it up then I would get a price break.
