Who gets to be the Illinois Senator if Rod doesn't resign?

That’s pretty much the whole question, I guess.

Does a governor in that much trouble still get to name a Senator, since the trouble he is in is over allegations he is trying to sell the position?

He’s been arrested. He hasn’t been indicted, much less convicted, and he hasn’t been impeached and removed by the legislature.

Unless he voluntarily steps down (I suppose he can take a leave of absence) and hands over office to the Lt. Gov., he’ll still have the power to appoint the new Senator until he’s removed from office.
