Who in NYC is going out to watch the fireworks? And where?

I’m in Washington Heights but I have a MetroCard and I know how to use it

Where’s the best viewing? It’s west side again this year, right?

Last year we found a place on the LWS and stood in a crowd of 50 bajillion people to watch the fireworks. Then we saw a movie so we didn’t have to fight the crowds on the trains to get back home. This year we went to a BBQ in Prospect Park and decided to spend the evening at home. At this point if you haven’t already found a spot and parked yourself there you won’t find one worth having. Head up to your rooftop and enjoy the view from there!

I’m thinking the NW corner of Central Park. Although I may get there and be unable to stand anywhere except on other folks’ shoulders.

Hmm I wonder if Ft Tryon Park / the Cloisters would be too far north to be viable? It’s right down the street so to speak…

I left home (a few blocks from you, IIRC) right around when you posted this, picked up some snacks from the grocery store, took the A downtown to Times Square, and got a great spot on 12th Ave. and 42nd St. Anybody who got there after about 6:30 would have had a hard time finding where to sit, but the 5 pm they tell you online is hyperbole. I’d have invited you if I’d seen this yesterday! Where did you end up? Is there anywhere in the neighborhood that they’re visible? I enjoyed them very much, but if you can see it from our neighborhood at all, I’ll try my building’s roof next year.

I decided to do the George Washinton Bridge, but would not recommend it; too far away to really get the experience.

Doper around the corner, eh? Thanks for the hypothetical invite! We should hang out some time.
