For awhile now I’ve been hearing rumors that the woman who married Michael Jackson is not Elvis Presley’s daughter, but an unrelated imposter. I also heard that the “real” L.M. Presley is now calling herself Lisa Johanson (sp?), and is trying to expose the fraud. Does anyone know more about this? How seriously are the claims of fraud being taken? Would it be illegal to marry someone while pretending to be someone else? Is Michael Jackson still married to what’s-her-name?

There’s a Swedish woman named Lisa Johansen who claims she is actually Lisa Marie Presley. From what I’ve seen, her claim is based on the following:
1 - She says it’s true.
2 - Two Swedish doctors looked at childhood pictures of Lisa Marie Presley and declared that the woman who married Michael Jackson looked different.
An incontrovertable case has been made.
Fearing she may not be handed Elvis’ estate in the immediate future, Lisa Marie is currently making a living selling her autobiography I, Lisa Marie. Look for it on the “recent fiction” shelf.

Thanks for the links, Nemo. That’s pretty goddam weird. Lisa Marie- the known one - looks just like Elvis. And, to my knowledge, is the person who shows up now & again in Memphis with Priscilla to fulfill her daughterly duties.
I have a close friend who worked at Graceland as their first archivist, and will ask her what up with this. I’ll let ya know.
