Going from memory, the no-fly zones that protected them from Hussein were set up in the early 1990’s, and were maintained all through the Clinton administration. Anybody who was paying attention, which evidently did not include 75% of the US population and 98% of the liberal media, laughed every time Bush or Rice or Rummy talked about how dangerous Saddam was, when he couldn’t even fly a helicopter over two thirds of his own country.
Edit: I stopped laughing when it became evident that Bush was going to attack no matter what the UN weapons inspectors, after four months of exhaustive searching of every alleged WMD factory or storage facility identified by the CIA and “Curveball”, said about him being completely wrong.
And many of the TV celebrities aren’t really “known”: people may recognize the name, but won’t be able to tell you who that person is, or if they have an actual reference it will be along the lines of “Oprah? Oh yeah, that American TV celebrity who wanted some fancy store in Paris to open only for her…”
Maybe I’m missing something here, but the article itself doesn’t present anything Huckabee said that isn’t understandable. The article itself is 100 times more inflammatory than what was quoted by Huckabee, who never was quoted in the article as connecting the Newtown massacre to any kind of punishment by God. I am a, if not flaming liberal, a fairly well-stoked one. But I’m just not seeing evil in the article. The quotes I see from Huckabee make sense, to me, and are even somewhat agreeable, as a rant on ‘kids these days’. And it’s the exact same kind of rant my folks might go on right now, and they are atheist. So…is Huckabee being clueless or is the media? Oh, and my vote goes to ‘Those who profit from the misery of others’. That covers such a wide range of secular sins that I don’t know where to start.

Mbeki’s AIDS policy was awful - but I’m not willing to call anyone a complete scumbag who hands over power in a young democracy when the Constitution says he has to. (Note that I say “power”, not “office” - Putin left the Presidency when his Constitution mandated it, but didn’t really let go of power. Mbeki did both.) The world is lamentably full of leaders who believe in “one man, one vote, one time” - Mbeki isn’t one of them.
