I think to qualify as a historical figure, there would have to be contemporary accounts.

By that standard, Alexander the Great is not a historical figure. We have no contemporary accounts of his life, only histories written by those who’d read contemporary accounts some decades after his death.

Even the historicity of Jesus has been disputed. The earliest written accounts which mention him were produced more than 20 years after his death (IIRC), the gospels even later.

15 years, probably. He died between 30 and 36, and the earliest Pauline Epistles are from about 45-50. The Gospels are usually dated from 60 to 100, typically with Mark as the oldest and John the latest of the Canonical Gospels.
