The child abuse rumors origionated long before * Mommie Dearest. * Marlene Dietrich’s daughter was a playmate of Joan’s children and claimed that it was common knowledge that Joan beat them silly. You have competition you see - I recall the story of some Victorian scientist who studied insects and when his fiancee ran off with somebody else went to Africa to discover a few and forget. Anyway he ended up finding a then unknown species of highly deadly scorpion - and as the discoverer was entitled to name it. So there is an insect whose scientific name to this day is Scorpio Normatalmadgeson or something close.
