Take the Starz series Spartacus, possibly the nakedest TV show ever made. I loved it. The thing is, it wasn’t just endless parade of naked gladiators, orgies and bath scenes; it also was one of the bloodiest and most violent shows ever made, with the most absurdly awesome action scenes, the most melodramatic dialog, the most scenery-chewing acting. There was absolutely nothing about that show that wasn’t pushed past the limit, creating its own form of ridiculous hyper-reality, that pushed right past your brain and injected itself directly into your id. It was great.
