I’ve read a couple of book reviews lately and really want to read this book, but have totally and utterly forgotten the title/author/where I read the review. The book is apparently the second in this series; it’s sort of fiction/fantasy and is about a Great Britain that is populated by all sorts of literary characters (people from Bronte, Dickens, etc.).
The Eyre Affair is the first book in the series. The second book is Lost in a Good Book.
The Eyre Affair was great fun, but it was clearly a first novel: the author was throwing out imaginative bits with both hands but didn’t really have control of his plot or characters. I’m hoping that the second book shows him gaining control on the one hand and keeping his imagination going on the other.
