Who IS this guy?

There’s an anti-meth PSA running locally which features a guy who looks damnably familiar, but I can’t quite place him, and it’s bugging me to death.

Guy: Burly, square-jawed, thin-lipped, close cropped dark hair, dark eyebrows and eyes. Black tshirt.

Setting: Automotive garage.

Script (from memory): “You might take meth because of how it makes you feel. Here is how it feels to your heart.”

cue revving car until the engine overheats and dies painfully

“The difference is, you can’t rebuild a heart.”

Tagline: Meth can kill you.

Question posed in thread title. He looks very familiar, but I can’t place him. Feels like a sidekick in some early '80s crimefighting show. I thought he might be the mechanic from “Knight Rider,” but he evidently isn’t.

Anybody seen this? Have any ideas? Thanks.

Yeah, the mechanics on Knight Rider were female, IIRC.

Is this the ad?

That’s Henry Rollins, who is a musician and has been in some films/tv, IIRC.

It wouldn’t be the one with Henry Rollins in it, would it?

Here’s his IMDB listing/filmography:

Do I win anything?

Yup, that’s him, all right.

Even after looking through his IMDB bio, I still can’t figure why he looks so familiar, though. I don’t think I’ve seen anything that he’s in.

Win anything? Well, you did send your entry in the “NO” envelope, thus not subscribing to any of our great deals on magazines, so…you could win ten million dollars, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Thanks, though.

Seriously.

I know Rollins is pretty vocally anti-drug, but man, it’s easy for him to say “no” to speed – he was born that way.

He had a hit single in the mid-90s with the Rollins Band, “Liar.” Perhaps you saw the video/video clips at some point? He also does spoken-word poetry and has written some books, so you might’ve seen his picture on book jackets, CDs, or DVDs of performances.

He has been on lots of those VH1 countdowns, you know, the ones where b-list celebrities comment humorously on worst videos/ugliest hairstyles/hottest rumors/etc. That’s what I recognize him from.
