I’ve never seen that one, at least not that I remember. I’ll have to look for it at some point. Great Cast.
Sammy could sing and dance, of course, but the other day I came across a video of him playing drums. Just a throwaway talent that I’d never heard attributed to him and he could be in Buddy Rich’s presence. There’s a film of him on YouTube at 7 headlining a short film where he sings and dances, Rufus Jones for President. The man was scary talented.
Supposedly, during the height of Deep Throat mania, he hosted Linda Lovelace and, allegedly, she gave him lessons in her particular talent. I bet the man even excelled at that!
Dean was cool, even if you consider that crap he did with Lewis. Sammy was by far the most talented.
I met Sammy a few times years ago. But I had a beer with Willie Nelson. Have ever mentioned that?
The question is: did he have draft or a bottle? Who paid?
We had bottles of Bud, my treat!
What kind of “bud”?
I hope @Stoid doesn’t mind me posting this, but she once shared a photo of herself as a girl with Sammy Davis Jr (her neighbor) at his grandmother’s funeral, from Jet magazine.
Dino hands down! He was handsome (I never saw the appeal of Sinatra’s looks or voice), had a great voice, was funny and fun-loving. I read somewhere that there was a huge difference between Dino and Frank when it came to recording sessions. Frank was all business, very serious, and spent hours and hours. They said Dino would come in, sing his songs, crack some jokes, and would be out the door in record time to go play golf. Dino sang the best Italian love songs.
He also had a real talent for fancy quick-draw gun-twirling tricks. No, really.
No love for Ben?
He was also an excellent impressionist, especially of singers.
His acting was nothing to sneeze at, both on stage and film.
Yeah, I am biased for obvious reasons, but the fact is at his pinnacle (which was among the most beloved entertainers in America, a humongous star) he was widely considered the most broadly talented person to ever have been in show biz.
And it adds to his impressive accomplishments to know that he had virtually no formal education at all.
Plus he was funny, and sweet. I cherish my memories of him, which are surprisingly numerous, since there was a period of time when, for various reasons, I spent a pretty good chunk of time with him and his family.
