One of the coolest groups ever to assemble was The Rat Pack. They just oozed hipness. My question is this: who is your favorite Rat Pack member?
Now, don’t get me wrong, The Chairman is exceptional and Dean is smooth, but for my money, Sammy Davis Jr. is the man. He dances, sings, acts, and has a glass eye ( 
) to boot. How can you beat that?
Sammy was definitely a swingin’ cat, but I have to go with the laid back, slightly detached smoothness of Dino.
I love them all, but my vote is with Sammy, too. I can sort of imagine another Sinatra or Martin type, but not another Mr. Davis. I can’t think of anyone who comes close with the multi-talents … not Ben Vereen, not Gregory Hines.
May I suggest an extension to this thread: who could make up a rat pack these days? And just for imagination’s sake, let’s think personality more than expertise …

OK toonerama, I’ll bite. My vote for the new Rat Pack would be Bruce Willis. Great actor and in the late 80’s he had a mildly successful recording career. That and he is coolness personified (these days at least).
I liked Dean Martin- he just oozed smoothness and relaxedness (maybe a new word there!). Sinatra was second for me.

New Rat Pack? Well, given that Steven Soderbergh is remaking Ocean’s 11, some candidates would include George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Don Cheadle (he did play Sammy), and Matt Damon (well, I don’t know about that last one…)
