Who makes loose meat/Maid-Rite sandwiches?

A loose meat sandwich sounds just like a Philly cheesesteak, but with the beef ground instead of shaved. And that whole lack of cheese thing, but you get my drift. It’s hard to mess up with beef and green pepper.

Not really. Sloppy joe is the closest comparison. Or simply a hamburger, except with crumbled meat instead of a patty. Philly cheesesteak is pretty far down the list of beef sandwiches I’d compare it to.

It doesn’t have to be. The hamburger patty is the most common, but a horseshoe can be made with other meats—including, yes, pork tenderloin.

I did know about the tenderloin variant, but not the Maid Rite variant. Well, there ya go. Wonder which came first, the Iowa or Springfield version.

Almost certainly Springfield–except Springfield originally used ham.

We’re cooking this sloppy joe recipe tonight. Without the nasty green bell pepper. Went to the grocery a couple hours ago and bought the meat and buns. We had the other ingredients.
