The perpetrator, Lester, was clumsily trying to arrange a situation where he would have to interact with that devastatingly handsome mailman, Hank, who handles mail run 3745-South.
When Hank showed up, and realised this was the usual pattern with the same stalker as last Wednesday, he sighed. I’m not getting out of my truck, this time, he told himself. He just honked.
Lester was suddenly too shy/ashamed to look Hank in the eye, and just played deaf.
Hank drove away and moved on. Lester just drove away.
There’s in fact quite a lot of traffic on this road (for a rural area), so I’m not surprised that once in a while, someone would stop in front of your house for any number of reasons.
When snow blocks our home mailbox the mail person drives right by. She has a very tight schedule and is not supposed to do anything that slows her deliveries. Get out of the vehicle? No way!
At work it’s a different story, though. Different mail person and she uses our bathroom once a week or so. In return, she does whatever is necessary to deliver my work mail. She also takes anything we offer after her bathroom break (donut, cookies, etc).
Don’t bother seeking complicated explanations, when simple cluelessness and self-absorption can explain something.
The guy had the whole road to pull over, so why did he do it so that he blocks your mailbox. Why do my neighbors’ workmen park blocking my driveway?
The one I encounter constantly, is folk parking directly across from each other on a side street, such that they leave a VERY narrow space in between - when the 2d car to arrive could easily have parked a house or 2 down the block.
People think nearly exclusively of their own convenience, and when involved in their own shit, are oblivious to anything around them - even a honking delivery truck.
Don’t worry - you’re safe. (But just in case you aren’t, dibs on the camera!)
