Goofy isn’t a dog, he’s a dawg.. Curious George, on the other hand, is either a chimpkey or a monkanzee.
I’m a Curious George fan and collector, and I was all set to turn up my nose at this movie, for a number of reasons. They actually named The Man in the Yellow Hat - sacrilege right there! Will Ferrell was attached - way overrated, IMO. And I wasn’t sure if I liked the animation style, or George’s ‘new’ look.
Well, of course it’s a different medium. Naming TMitYH is not too bad a thing, I guess (he said grudgingly). I liked the trailers well enough, and, well, I’ll just say I was very pleased with the movie. I don’t think ‘thrilled’ would be too strong a word - I am somewhat biased on the subject matter. Maybe I’m exposing my inner self too much to ridicule from sophisticated types, but I’ll even go so far as to say I was delighted, and that many, many times during the course of the movie. I can’t tell you when another movie, of any type, has done that for me.
In this day and age when treatments of various fictional characters almost always mean disappointment of greater or lesser degree, I am much more than satisfied.
Come on, SEQUEL!
