David Lynch.
:dubious:
No, seriously.
Ahem.
:smack:
… Ok, fine. I’ll go with Peter Jackson or James Cameron.
Steven Spielberg, for chrissakes! Indiana Jones is my proof he can do no harm to the series.
And, for the record, Kevin Smith likes Revenge of the Sith: http://viewaskew.com/news/sith
I’ll counter that with the re-edited E.T. sans guns and plus walkie talkies. Spielberg is right out.
Assuming they aren’t dead, perhaps we should have thrown Empire’s director, Irwin Kershner, and writer, Lawrence Kasdan, back into the mix.
Yeah, because FBI agents are known for shooting children with shotguns. Of all movie changes, this one makes some sense. It’s not like E.T. shot first or anything.
That’s what I was thinking. Though Tarantino would be awesome too. I bet it would feel a lot more like the original trilogy if he did it- he’d bring back a lot of the 70’s stuff like the haircuts and the dialogue.
Sam Raimi, just so we can have a Army of Darkness-esque sequence of extreme closeups on each part of Darth Vader’s suit.
“Hail to the Emporer, Baby.”
I don’t know that I’d let him write it, but I think Luc Besson could direct it O.K.
I know, but they are known for carrying guns and occasionally drawing them. How many criminals do you think they’d stop with “Halt, or I’ll call for more ineffective backup!”
I submit, your honor and honored members of the jury, that the change to walkie talkies was pointless, serving no purpose other than to make the film more palatable to a small group of overly concerned parents in a manner entirely similar to Lucas’ change to Greedo firing first.
Woohoo! Run on sentence.
Maybe we could get Tim Burton, and rename the latest one to:
Episode III: Anakin Staplerhands
Okay, just to throw some more hats into the ring:
Robert Rodriguez. Can you imagine what he’d do with that sort of budget?
The Wachowski brothers might be fun. They’d certainly come up with some kickass visuals, even if the storyline degrades over time.
The Coen Brothers. Wonder who they would have cast in the lead roles?
Maybe Ron Howard. He gets a lot of stick as a director, but even though it would get syrupy his story arc would be a lot better than anything Lucas has done since, well, ever.
